Aria FA71 Acoustic/Electric Jazz Guitar Blonde (Samick, Korea, 2003)

Please note this is the Samick Factory made Korean version (as used by Gretsch, Epiphone, Washburn, Guild etc.) as I believe the current models are made in China. It is worth noting Aria also were entrusted with delivering the D'Aquisto reissues, so it certainly knows a thing or two about making excellent jazz guitars. Aria FA series jazz guitars have been used by some of the greats of the jazz guitar world, artists such as Herb Ellis, Ike Issacs, Jim Mullen, Joe Pass, Cameron Pierre (Courtney Pine) and Larry Coryell. The range is varied and includes this classic single floating pickup acoustic / electric model.

* Some reviews have hinted that the top might well be of solid pressed construction, and while a check with a mirror does not discount this possibility I will stick with Aria's official spec. Either way it is a very resonant instrument, which while not as loud as a Manouche style jazzer would still do a fine job acoustically in a small band - especially for swing rhythm.

Check out the other listing for a sunburst version of this guitar. Sound wise it's just a bit warmer and woodier for chords, although there isn't much in it tbh.

Generally good condition. The only cosmetic issue is a small gap between the binding and the neck in the first fret area (see macro pics). I suspect this is due to the rosewood fretboard blank being a few microns wider at the nut end. There are no signs of fretboard lifting or any structural issues, and it has been stable over the last 10 years..

RATING = C+ (Good condition for 14 year old guitar)
